Thanks for the reminders. We choose our stories. Chaos can be a creative force. And staying centered is the power of creating calm in the center of the storm. It's empowering!

Well said Tobin, Narrative is Stability, and in times of Chaos we have the opportunity to expand our narrative, to do more and say more, as part of the process of personal reinvention. Thanks!

Thanks for this, Tobin. Your book "Narrative Generation: Why Narrative will be Your Most Valuable Asset in the Next 5 Years" (2016) is more relevant than ever. We're watching a new narrative of American society and institutions challenging, and possibly replacing, an incumbent narrative that has been in place for over 80 years. The world order we all grew up in, and the narrative underpinning it, was a product of the structures emerging from World War II. This included, NATO, World Bank, United Nations, CDC, USAID, the Civil Rights Act, GI Bill, and so much more.

A profoundly different frame for the role of the United States in the world, and how the U.S. government should relate to people within its borders, is now being exercised. Whether the Trump/Musk frame takes root or not, or whether the chaos of their conflict with the old frame creates an opening for something else, can be observed rationally through the tools you offer in Chapter 6 - Anatomy of a Narrative and Chapter 7 - Know Thy Anatomy, Then Improve On It.

Those narrative frameworks in your book, which I had a hand in writing, not only help understand the mechanics of what we're experiencing, but reinforce your message in your post here. If you know the anatomy of your narrative, you can know what to hold onto, where to experiment, and how to manage feedback from your ecosystem.

I encourage all of your readers (and mine) to buy your book. I will help everyone make sense of what they are seeing in the news, clarify their own narrative, can offer a platform upon which to surf the waves of change we will experience over the coming years.
